This section is devoted to the philosophical words of great people (by the way all the people who work hard for the good are considered great for Best Me Website). To learn about the beautiful things in life is to learn from the learned.
There can be no happiness if the things we do are different from the things we believe in.
It is not always easy to pursue the things that we believe in but it is worth it if we stand to what we hold true in our heart. For the past 1 year I tried going back in our hometown and manage a business and after a while it didn't feel right anymore so I move back in the city and join an I.T. company and I am never been so much happier with my career. It was an amazing turn around and no regrets at all. (SC, 25, Philippines)
"A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may be the difference between victory and defeat."
~Emperor of China, from the Movie Mulan
You think it's impossible that a single person can give such a huge impact in a certain situation... If you said it is impossible, think again and see the difference of a man's single vote to change the faith of as big as a country...
So you see, every individual in this world is significant. It is up to us to stood up for what we believe and we can choose to be great.

"The people were magic. I found them open, curious, respectful, and gentle, everywhere we went."
~ Dr. Hunter "Patch" Adams
I always believe the impossible and that is all men are good no matter how snobbish they appear to be. But, Dr. Adams sees the beauty of each person that he even called them magical. Same way that the compassionate Mother Teresa sees Jesus in each individual she helped. We cannot live in this planet by ourselves; we need others to live a perfect life. Anything that can make us smile was created by somebody such as a stranger, a friend, a family member, or ourselves. Going to fulfill our passion involves people that will always help us build ourselves to be better - it is in the attitude and we should not look at circumstances. We need to understand that to be able to become successful in our endeavor, our motive especially to other people should always be noble; unless we appreciate the value of caring for other people; we would never appreciate the joy in receiving material things. "The moment you even take the time to look backwards is when you lose your place. The most you can do is decide who and what you want to be, and then get on with the business."
~ Oprah Winfrey, owner of Harpo Entertainment Group
(Harpo is Oprah spelled backwards)
The statement was from the most successful TV host of the Oprah Winfrey Show who said that when she talks with her producers she says "you can't win any race by looking at what the other guy's doing". Staying true to yourself and following the real mission of your own life or passion are all it takes to be the best and original. It is also true that there is nothing like an original concept, although the main concept is common what sets the difference is in the way it is being presented or delivered. When I started a small internet cafe I was different from my competitors because my valued clients knew me as reasonably expensive but delivering a quality goods and services. I do not allow customers to walk out of my business without giving them the best option or give them the service they wanted that is worth more than their money and which they could really be proud of. "Establish a good character and your small shortcomings will never hurt you."
~ Sorren Caryl U. Galiza
In college studying is one of my passions, which means I review to excel at class. I'm interested to learn so I jump from one book to another and I listen to all my professors because they surely know more than I. Putting that in your passion, you'll have to engage to activities that will make you better at your craft. But it's important that along the way, you must establish a good character. One day I have an examination and I was late because I was helping my sister finish her project, I was expecting my classmates that they've started taking the exam but to my surprise they were all waiting for me. I really can't say that I was a teacher's pet; but I gained everybody's respect including the prof's that they are willing to wait for me. What was more surprising, I may be the last to come in but I was the first to submit and finish the test. I later found out that the reason why I finish so fast too was that I only answered one essay instead of choosing five to answer among the ten questions. Yes, when I received my grade in that exam, I got the perfect score. Bottom line, when you are on your way to your passion, make sure that your character is strong, you remain true to your commitment, your reputation is high and clean; and whatever small things that may hinder you will become insignificant. "If you're doing the work that you love, you wouldn't feel like you're working at all."
~ Sorren Caryl U. Galiza
When we find our passion and even use that as a living, there is a 100% guarantee that we will never feel like working at all. Going to work is fun and anticipated. I have that the same feelings when I started Best Me Website, it gave a different smile in my heart whenever I visit the site and update it because at the back of my mind I am doing this for everybody to feel inspired but most especially when I hear people appreciate what I am doing. The feeling of felicity does not happen all the time - that I have to admit. There are times when I cannot feel inspiration flickers and that cost me not to think creatively and reflect; but I do not mind those boring moments to come because that spirit of entertaining boredom moments is actually the true vindication that we love what we do. Yes, we knew that that break from being creative came to past and we do not lose focus to our real goal. (SC, 25, Philippines)
"A failure is someone who quits or gives up. The successful person keeps trying many solutions until the right one works."
~ Tim Hansel
I made so many mistakes in my life but one thing is sure I never get those downfalls a hindrance for me to move forward. If I would think about all the achievements from the past (winning different competitions in the school like poster or slogan making contest or the Marketing Quiz Bee beating some of the top universities in the Philippines, accomplishing successful projects like being the Editor In Chief of our college yearbook, receiving an Excellence in Marketing Award from the Association of Marketing Educators Philippines during graduation, or winning the respect and friendship of so many people) I wouldn't have done that if I quit aiming to become excellent in my chosen field and in doing my responsibility with the best I can. All the mentioned achievements were not easy - there were a lot of energy, time, and creativity invested to have earned it. I made sacrifices by choosing which are more important, watching a movie or beating the deadline. The best lesson I learn from experience is if I make a mistake, I shut my mouth before making complains and pointing fingers of to who’s to blame, and start admitting the fault and do some actions in solving it. Also, having mentors and reliable friends made the journey of success a lot sweeter and easier too. (SC, 25, Philippines)
"Be polite and you will win adoration even from a stranger."
~ Sorren Caryl U. Galiza
I can prove that this aphorism is true because I personally get almost anything that I needed from anybody even from a stranger because I pay respect to every individual. If we want to become successful, it is important that we show respect especially to the person whom we are asking a favor. But for instance that we approached somebody in our most respectful behavior and yet receive a negative reply (includes frowning and disrespect from the person) we can try three things: (1) be understanding because the person may be having a bad day; (2) especially if we need the person's assistance for more than one then we make the person feel special and thank the person for doing a great job - more on reverse psychology but it's a good way in winning the person's trust and full attention forever; and (3) keep it cool and never walk away without saying thank you for the time the person gave us.
